If there is gross vomit/faecal contamination call the Hit Squad
for them to use the Body Spillage kit to clean it up.
- Clean towels, bottled water, meals etc should
be passed through the doorway.
- Used crockery, cutlery and glassware supplied
with room service from affected rooms should be collected up by
the guests and passed through the doorway. They should be taken
to the Still Room and washed separately from other items. The
staff member using the dish washer should use rubber gloves when
handling the items.
- Replenish used towels. Make sure all laundry
items from affected rooms are bagged separately before transfer
to the laundry. They should be placed in a black bag and sprayed
with virucidal spray before sealing the bag
The staff member should chat away and re-assure the victim that
everything that can be done is being done. Reassure them that they
will feel better soon.
Bedrooms occupied by recovered guests
Personal protective clothing including rubber gloves should be worn
by staff dealing with affected areas.
- Check for vomit/faecal contamination. If any
is present call the hit squad and use the Body Spillage Kit.
- The Hit Squad should automatically fog the
room as the procedure already described.
- If the room has duvets inflate the cover with
the fogger.
- Leave the room for 40 minutes.
- Clean bedroom as normal.
- Clean all surfaces with virucidal surface
cleaner particularly handles and switches.
- Sanitise the bathroom. Put a capful of Milton
in the toilet bowl and use this to sterilize the toilet brush.
- Crockery, cutlery and glassware supplied with
room service from affected rooms to be taken to the Still Room
and washed separately from other items. The staff member using
the dish washer should use rubber gloves when handling the items.
- Sterilize teacups saucers and glasses in a
solution of Milton in the wash hand basin.
- Sterilize the waste bin.
- Do not change linen until the room has been
decontaminated.
- All laundry items from affected rooms are
to be bagged separately before transfer to the laundry. They should
be placed in a black bag and sprayed with virucidal spray before
sealing the bag.
- Dispose of all the toilet rolls (even unused
ones can be contaminated).
- Replenish water glasses and jug.
- Fog the room again with concentrated Cryocide
